Hello! I'm Elyssa and I love the world of technology. I am a 9th grader at Booker T. Washington Highschool. Since I was a child, I've always been interested in learning how to code and programming computers. However, at the time, I didn't have much resources to correctly pursue it. So now that I have the oppurtunity, I am here.
I typically spend my time watching anime, kdramas or reading books. These are my safe havens. I also listen to music everyday to calm down and bring up mood after a long day. For years I played both the piano (after school) and clarinet (school club).
In school, my favorite subjects are Math and Ela. I enjoy the thrill of math because of the feeling of finally solving a problem. Math is truly a satiable subject. I love Ela because it gives me a reason to write and think creatively. I play volleyball for my highschool team Washington Lady Bulldogs. I am fairly good at it for starting this year and plan on playing it until I graduate or maybe even in college as a sport.
As a career, I'm positive that I will go into computer science and later expand on possible jobs. As of right now, I hope to be a computer engineer at NASA. One of my inspirations is Katherine Johnson. At the time, she was considered the "computer" because of her quick math skills that helped calculate and analyze the flight paths of many spacecraft. I hope to just as great at math as her so it can aid the success in my career. She truly changed my perspective on math. Another inspiration I have is Dr. Ayanna Howard . Even only recently learning about her in this week's session, her story really eginited a spark in my heart to further pursue my passion of becoming a woman in tech.
